Foot Fetish Friday - 'Kitten' Jane...

When Miss R got married last summer I set my sights on walking down the aisle {behind the bride obviously} in Miu Miu's S/S 2011 swallow or kitten print platform Mary Janes.  After unfortunately leaving it too late and being told they were sold out in all Miu Miu stores I managed to track down a very close second in the form of the plain black, slightly lower satin version from my favourite London department store Liberty.  My print addiction with this collection seriously knows no bounds and after many failed ebay searches and bids the below beauties finally arrived in my world last week.  I LOVE them.

Bailey's 1st Modelling shoot...

So I am constantly saying to Miss R that Bay would make a delightful dog model. He is the cutest and I don't just think I am being a biased Auntie, obviously we will have to wait until he is alittle older and les wayward!  Look at him modelling Miss R's new Rose gold Michael Kors watch that I bought her for le birthday.  What do you think...?

'The Gentlewoman' gelato colour cover No.3...

The S/S 2012 catwalks are awash with ice cream shades making me dream of gelato, especially during this Indian Summer we seem to be experiencing in Londres this week.  Raspberry Ripple, Mint Choc Chic, Pistachio, Strawberry/Orange & Lemon Sorbet.  Clothing colors that are good enough to eat!  The Gentlewoman's 4th issue drops with actress Olivia Williams playing the role of cover star, ensconced in Vanilla.  With Issue 1, 3 & 4 altogether below I can think of only one thing - neopolitan 'I'ce-cream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream and The Gentlewoman - the thinking woman's seasonal bible.  I myself am particularly looking forward to reading the article about Apollonia Poilane, the 27 year old CEO of Parisian Bakery 'Poilane'. Miss R and myself were turned onto Poilane bread when we worked for the supremely talented {and Michelin starred chef} Miss Skye Gyngell years ago at Petersham Nurseries.  Literally makes THE BEST TOAST - go try!

Cocktails at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel....

Last night I was treated to belated birthday cocktails at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel by my lovely friend and fellow Huffinton Post blogger Miss McGiven {for all you sneaker freaks check out her blog http://fightforyrwrite.blogspot.com/}.  I had never been before and would urge anyone to go, the building is breathtaking, the staff friendly and attentive and the drinks were delicious.  We had a table in the 'Booking Office Bar' where we sampled several gin based cocktails, the creamiest cream soda and snacked on continously refilled vegetable crisps {my fave} and honey roast nuts, Miss R - you would have loved it!  There is also the smaller, lower lit 'Gilbert Scott' which is the bar of Marcus Wareing's second restaurant, we vowed to go back to next time.  Sarah is a bit of a regular and apparently they serve smoked salt and cracked black pepper popcorn with your drinks, which is a reason in itself to go back surely?...

'Pineapple Julep' served in a silver jug and packing a good gin kick!

From 'Lovers & Losers' to my new 'Little Black Book'...

Years ago my gorgeous bestie Siouxsie bought me a Smythson Wee 'Lovers & Losers' notebook which I used as a phone number/address book until it was literally full to bursting and there were no pages left for new acquaintances.  It is pretty love worn so on my birthday wishlist that Miss R asked me to write was a Smythson address book.  My amaze brother Mr R gifted the below 'Little Black Book' to me and wrote the most lovely message inside {he has such a way with words, his birthday cards always make me cry!} Last night I borrowed Miss R's wee 'Little Black Book' and copied all of our shared friends and famille into it's new big brother, I really enjoyed it, such a delight to write in - thank you Mr R.  You rock!

...don't they look so darling altogether?...

Dinner at Paul and James' house...

Last night Miss R and myself went to our friends Paul and James' house in Bethnal Green for dinner and some X Factor action.  Their house so should be featured in Elle Deco, they both have such a great eye for interiors.  Miss R, P and J are all massive fans of the factor of X, so I had to get acquainted pretty fast with the new judges {Miss R & Paul both majorly crushing on Mr Barlow} as being sans TV means it is a little off my radar.  James was on cooking duty and what a cook he is!  Dinner was a dream.  We started with beetroot's {golden as well as purple} with a yoghurt and parsley dressing which were delicious.  Then a Moro inspired main course of mackerel, saffron rice with pistachio, cardamom, fried onions and yoghurt and a spinach and feta salad.  I was lucky enough to enjoy a bit more of the beets being a veggie and all.  We were treated to a box of Parisian Pierre Herme macarons for dessert.  Miss R and myself had both never tried these before and oh my they give Laduree a run for their money in the taste stakes!  Some really interesting flavours including Olive Oil & Vanilla - which was sublime, Jasmine - a personal fave, so creamy, light and subtle in it's floral flavour and Liquorice & Violet which is the one in the below photo with a different color shell either side of the filling. Pierre Hermes macarons are available to buy online http://www.pierreherme.com/products/macarons.html / in their London boutique {13 Lowndes Street, London SW1X} or in the concession that James visited in Selfridges. Go try!  Thanks for a wonderful evening boys...

My name is Miss J...

...and I am an addict.  I am addicted to Miu Miu accessories.  There, I've said it.  They say the first step is admittal.  Can anyone blame me with such beautiful delights on offer every season?  Well maybe I am not a complete addict, I haven't forfeited rent/bill/grocery money to fund my addiction, yet!  As you know it was mine and Miss R's birthday last week and we were lucky enough to get some birthday dollar from le famille and guess where some of mine ended up?  Winging it's way to the exquisite Miu Miu Bond Street store, that's where.  From the hotel style revolving door, stiletto sinking deep pile carpet to the gold bullion shoe wall, everything is exquisite.  Today I managed to acquire a pair of THE hardest sunglasses to get your hands on this season. As soon as I saw these babies on the catwalk back in March it was LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT {as you may have already read in a previous post}.   After missing the first drop of these Noir beauties {thank you Miu Miu PR with incorrect delivery info} I thought my dream was over until to my surprise the helpful store assistant called me on Thursday and said we have just had a delivery of two pairs of red and two pairs of a different colour.  If you would like them you had better be quick!  So I hot-footed it first thing and was served by a gorgeous assistant who made my purchase all the more magical.  Loving the maid-like dresses that the girls were wearing, would kill to get my hands on one of those I tell you.  Maybe I should seriously consider a Saturday job?...Anyway I thought I would share them with you, from the ribboned bag to the chartreuse velvet case {lined inside and out no less}.  The red encased glitter even matches my signature shade of red lipstick {Chanel, Rouge Allure, 'Enthusiast'}, I am a happy bunny.

Brave Bailey...

Yesterday Mr R took Master B for his first ever operation at the grand old age of nearly 6 months {his half year birthday is on the 29th}.  He gained and lost something at the vets; a microchip and his manhood.  I will let you do the maths.  Miss R was beside herself with worry all day bless her.  But knowing the brave little beautifully boisterous boy Bailey is, I was sure he would be ok.  When they collected him from the vets he was rocking a rather fetching pink collar to stop himself from biting / licking his stitches {dogs love doing that don't they?} and Mr R's words to the vets were "so you cut off my puppies b*ll*cks and give him a PINK collar to wear".  Men.  Hilarious.  I have to say that Bay sure suits a bit of pink, Miss R has already been told not to get any ideas!  Get well soon Bailey and well done for being such a brave boy...

Foot Fetish Friday - Minimal Masculine Mule...

Loving the footwear at Acne's S/S 2012 show at LFW.  Really clever considered design.  A backless minimal masculine mule-esque {never thought myself and that word would grace a post} shoe propped up on a heel.  Shown in classic black leather as well as dark blue and a rust colour coated glitter - another example of the hybrid trend that started in clothing and continues into footwear.  Is it a flat? Is it a heel?  No, it's both!

Chocolate for Miss J...

Had to show you this graphic delight in the shape of a dark chocolate square embossed with my initial! Bought for me by the gorgeous Robyn, it is from James Chocolates in Somerset {www.jameschocolates.co.uk} and not only do I love the fact it was almost made especially for me what with my initial being emblazoned all over it, the other side was topped with dried 'superfruits' of raspberry, blackcurrant and cranberry.  I was so excited about the lettering side I totally forgot to take a photo of the fruit - sorry!

Love is the Coal. That makes this train roll...

Ok, so I am pretty late getting this album properly on my radar {it was realised over a year ago in May 2010}.  Also baring in mind we saw The Black Keys supporting KOL in Hyde Park two summer's ago.  Anyway I am literally obsessed with it and have had it on repeat since Miss R gave it to me for our birthday and I in return got us tickets to see them when they play in London at the Ally Pally in February 2012. I love the lyrics to this song...
...and theses video's are hilarious!...

Laduree Macaroons X Matthew Williamson from Miss Miller...

Miss R and myself have been VERY spoilt this birthday and we wanted to say a big thank you to our amazing family and friends who made our 64th one of our most memorable yet.  We both were given some perfect pressies and if I was to list them all I could quite easily be here all night!  Anyway I thought I would share the below with you, given to us {a box each - eek} from the exquisite Emma.  During LFW {from 16th September} Matthew Williamson has emblazoned the boxes of Parisian macaroon house Laduree with one of his signature kaleidoscopic butterfly wing prints before jumping on the eurostar to adorn boxes during Paris Fashion Week {27th Sept - 5th Oct}. My favourite flavours were the Rose, Blackcurrant Violet, Vanilla and Salted Caramel - and yes they do taste as good as they look!

Until next year...

Miss R treated Mr R, Mr B and myself to supper at Pizza East Portobello http://www.pizzaeastportobello.com last night to end our week long birthday celebrations. It was my first time there and as we sat outside with Bay being a very good pupsicle and letting us devour our pizza's in semi peace we watched the sun go down over West London and bid farewell to our birthday for another year.  Miss R and myself as ever ordered the same, their delicious 'portobello' mushroom {when in Rome}, taleggio and oregano pizza and it certainly did hit the spot!

Cleopatra, coming at ya...

So with a very sore head and not much of a spring in my step I managed to leave my flat and make it to the Unique show at LFW this yesterday afternoon {had problems uploading the video so this post was delayed - my Mac is definitely on the way out!}.  Not bad after copious amounts of Sauvignon Blanc at our birthday drinks that saw me rolling in at 4am {not big or indeed clever}. I was very pleased I did.  Not only was I on time, I was also treated to Anna Wintour's dramatic entrance, complete with driver semi mounting the curb and her being ushered inside by burly security men as the paps and street style snappers went crazy.  Also in attendance on the FROW were a very dapper Hamish Bowles, ADR {fashion heroine} looking fabulous in a white trouser suit and white trilby with matching feather {top-to-toe Tom Ford no less}, Suzy Menkes and Julia Restoin-Roitfeld.  On the pop star/celebrity front Kelis chatting to Nicola Roberts, Pixie Geldof and blogger Susie Bubble as well as some very stylish fashion folk to boot.  The standout pieces for me were the iconic Elizabeth Taylor B&W print sweats, gold gold gold accessories, winged footwear, hieroglyphic hip-hop prints and gold foil on knits, turquoise satin{sounds so wrong but was actually right} and the pale pink pieces. I wasn't seated so didn't have a close up view of the collection but I did manage to shoot this video of the finale - enjoy!
Loving this gold leafed slick back hair, totally want to try that out...
...and how could I miss this lucky lady rocking THE Burberry biker that I was lusting after all of last season - HOT!

Unique...

Very much looking forward to the Unique show at LFW tomorrow and if the invite is anything to go by I am sensing a Cleopatra moment. Hope that the makeup reflects Elizabeth Taylor's amaze eyes as the young Queen of Egypt in the 1963 film. Excited!  Made me instantly think of Alexander McQueen's 2007 A/W show when make up artist Charlotte Tilbury worked her magic on the models eyes using MAC makeup.
